As an SAT tutor, I am often asked, “Where does the score of 1600 come from?” and, “Are there 1600 questions on the test?”and, “Why not grade it out of 100%?”and, “Why is each section graded out of 800?” I bet you wonder how this mysterious process works? Sorry to break it to you, but it’s not like your scores go in to some big belching machine, the kind you’d find in bowels of Wonka’s factory. It’s a little less exciting. How is the SAT scored?
